Pedro Macias Jr Injured in Fatal Crash on Highway 99 [Tehama County, CA]

Tehama County, CA (September 10, 2021) – On Thursday, 60-year-old Pedro Macias Jr of Chico suffered injuries in a fatal head-on crash on Highway 99.

The deadly accident happened at 12:18 a.m. just south of South Ave.

Investigating officers said a 28-year-old Red Bluff man was traveling the wrong way in the southbound lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

The southbound vehicle’s driver, Macias, did not have enough time to avoid the crash.

Rescuers took Macias to Enloe Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The man driving the Dodge truck died in the crash. The authorities withheld his name pending family notification.

Meanwhile, the Dodge truck came to rest on its wheels facing north and blocking the northbound lane.

On the other hand, Macias’ vehicle faced the south direction and blocked the number two south lane.

Officers said it is unknown if drugs and alcohol were a factor in the accident.
