Two Teenagers Dead and Five Others Injured in Solo-Car Accident near Legacy and Tustin Ranch Roads

TUSTIN, CA (March 23, 2018) – Two teens were killed and five others were injured in a single-car rollover crash near the intersection of Legacy Road and Tustin Ranch Road, on Friday afternoon.

According to Tustin police, the crash occurred at around 2:40 PM on the 16000 block of Lagacy Rd. There were seven passengers inside of an Infiniti M37 sedan including four 17-year-old boys, two 17-year-old girls, and a 19-year-old female driver.

The Infiniti was reportedly speeding eastbound on Legacy, when it lost control and hit a cement post, causing the car to crash into a parked box truck before rolling over several times. 17-year-old Pedro Fuentes of Santa Ana, also known as Peter, was pronounced dead at the scene. The six other passengers in the car were transported to a hospital for treatment and evaluation.

On Sunday night, Jason Anguiano of Santa Ana succumbed to his injuries at the Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, according to the OC Sheriff-Coroner. The remaining passengers were reported to have sustained non-life threatening injuries. There is no current update on their condition.

The investigation is still ongoing for the case. Officers are considering speed to be a contributing factor in the collision. No other information is available at this time.

Both victims were seniors at Century High School in Santa Ana, as well as some of the other injured victims. Jonathan Swanson, the principal, stated that there will be crisis response counselors to help students through this tragic time. The school held a moment of silences for Fuentes and Anguiano, and students created a memorial for the boys on campus.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help Fuentes’ family with funeral expenses.

Sweet Law offers our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Pedro Fuentes and Jason Anguiano. They were loved and will be missed by many. May they rest in peace.
