Pedestrian Hurt after San Diego Accident
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 4, 2019) – A 68-year-old pedestrian sustained injuries after a car crash in a San Diego intersection on Friday, March 1.
According to San Diego police, the accident happened near 70th Street and El Cajon Boulevard just after 12:30 p.m.
The victim was walking north across El Cajon Boulevard near 70th Street when an eastbound Honda Fit struck him, Officer Sarah Foster stated. The 46-year-old man driving the Honda stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Officers believe that alcohol did not play a part in the collision.
Medics brought the victim to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, Foster said.
The accident shut down several traffic lanes in the area, including the entire eastbound side of El Cajon Boulevard. Police warned motorists to avoid the area until further notice and to look for alternate routes.
When behind the wheel, it is important to always be aware of your surroundings. Keep an eye out for pedestrians, cyclists, or any other vehicles on the road. By staying alert and avoiding distracting activities while driving, you can reduce the chances of a serious accident.
