Female Pedestrian Dies in Vallejo Car Accident
VALLEJO, CA (January 26, 2019) – A 23-year-old woman from Kern County was killed on Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle between Sonoma Boulevard and Broadway Street. The woman’s identity is known, but the Solano County coroner’s office said it could not release her name at this time.
Vallejo police Lt. Michael Nichelini said the victim was found lying on the south side of Lewis Brown Drive in front of a furniture store when Vallejo Police responded at around 7:00 p.m. to the pedestrian-vehicle accident on Lewis Brown Drive east of Sonoma Boulevard.
It was reported that the woman was not in a crosswalk when she was hit between Sonoma Boulevard and Broadway Street. She was taken to a hospital but she later succumbed to her injuries. The police said she seemed to be a transient, and her last known address was in Bakersfield.
The man driving the vehicle that struck the woman remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Records show that this was the first fatal collision in Vallejo in 2019. The city had four incidents at this time last year out of the 14 total fatal collisions in 2018.
