62-Year-Old Man Dead after Del Mar Train Accident
DEL MAR, CA (January 21, 2019) – A pedestrian died after he was struck by a passenger train in Del Mar on Friday, January 18.
According to San Diego County sheriff’s officials, the Coaster train struck the 62-year-old man while moving north at approximately 50 mph in the area of Eighth Street and Stratford Court just before 1:30 p.m.
The victim, whose identity was not immediately available, was pronounced dead at the scene, Deputy Brian Abraham said.
The incident caused a several-hour halt to rail service through the area.
