Pedestrian Fatally Injured in Concord Accident on Port Chicago Highway
CONCORD, CA (February 4, 2019) – A pedestrian died after he was struck by a vehicle at a Concord intersection on Saturday, February 2.
Concord police officers and firefighters, along with AMR paramedics responded to the collision at around 6:20 p.m. at Port Chicago Highway and Arnold Industrial Way — north of state Highway 4 near Diablo Creek Golf Course, according to police Lt. Sam Staten.
Staten said that the victim was found lying in the roadway. He was pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel.
Police described the pedestrian as a white male adult and said that initial investigation determined he was crossing the street when a vehicle moving southbound on Port Chicago struck him.
The driver of the involved car remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Staten stated, noting that alcohol did not play a role in the accident.
The victim’s identity was not yet released by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.
