1 Injured in Sonoma County Pedestrian Accident
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (July 23, 2019) – A male pedestrian laying in the road suffered injuries after a car struck him on Graton Road on July 19.
The CHP’s Santa Rosa area officers came to the scene about 12:20 a.m. They responded after receiving reports of a person laying on the road on Graton Road and Tanuda Road, CHP Officer David deRutte revealed.
After a short while, the CHP’s Golden Gate Division reported a vehicle struck a pedestrian. Officers located the pedestrian in the westbound lane of Graton Road east of Tanuda Road, deRutte added.
According to the driver, she traveled at 35 mph west on Graton Road east of Tanuda Road. She then noticed a shadow in the road and felt an impact to the left front of her 2006 Scion.
She stopped and headed to a nearby Cal Fire station to report the incident. Meanwhile, occupants from another vehicle came upon the scene and waited near the injured male.
The driver clarified that she didn’t see the victim laying on the road and her left tires ran over him. The victim who wore dark-colored clothing sustained major injuries. Responders transported him to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
