Deadly Pedestrian Crash on Highway 101 in South San Francisco
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 9, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday evening in South San Francisco.
The fatal incident happened around 9:20 p.m. on northbound Highway 101, just south of Grand Avenue exit.
CHP officials said a male pedestrian was walking near the center divider, facing oncoming traffic when he was hit by at least one vehicle.
The impact caused fatal injuries to the pedestrian. Arriving units pronounced him dead at the scene.
The driver that struck the victim stayed on scene, the CHP said.
CHP officials issued a SigAlert in the area, blocking five highway lanes and diverting traffic off at South Airport Boulevard.
No arrests were made at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
