Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Highway 1 in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, CA (February 6, 2020) – A male pedestrian died after struck by a vehicle Thursday morning on a street in Wilmington, police said.
The fatal incident happened around 6:15 a.m. on Highway 1, also known as Pacific Coast Highway, at Avalon Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was walking on the highway when a pickup truck hit him. The unidentified victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. It is unknown if he was in a crosswalk when he was struck.
Police said the driver remained at the crash site and was cooperating with investigators.
No citation or arrest was immediately announced.
The circumstances leading up to the crash remains under investigation.
