Pedestrian Killed after Being Struck by Caltrain in Redwood City
REDWOOD CITY, CA (January 30, 2019) – On Wednesday morning, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a Caltrain near Main Street.
According to officials, the incident occurred around 10:00 AM near Elm Street. As per reports, the victim was trespassing on the railroad tracks at the time of the accident.
The cause of the accident is currently unknown and no details on what happened prior to the pedestrian getting killed were immediately available.
First responders declared the pedestrian dead on scene. Forty-one passengers were on board at the time of the collision, however no other injuries were reported.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time for preliminary investigation, but has since reopened. The Caltrain schedule resumed to normal service with some residual delays at about 2:00 PM.
There has been no further information released to the public regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
