Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision Reported near Miles Avenue
INDIO, CA (September 12, 2018) – A pedestrian was seriously injured Wednesday evening following a crash on Jefferson Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place around 10:00 PM at the intersection with Miles Avenue. The pedestrian was reportedly struck by an unknown vehicle while possible jaywalking. The details leading up to the accident have not yet been finalized by the authorities.
The victim suffered injuries and was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment. The pedestrian was listed in serious, but stable, condition.
Northbound lanes of Jefferson were closed at Miles for several hours, as an investigation took place in the area. Drugs and or alcohol are not being considered as factors in the crash, but no further details were released regarding possible jaywalking. Police issued a warning to people to walk in designated crosswalks when crossing the street. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time, as officials continue to investigate.
