Pedestrian Killed in Truman Road Collision [Kansas City, MO]

Kansas City, MO (August 19, 2024) – A pedestrian was fatally injured in a Truman Road collision early Sunday morning.

The fatal collision happened before 1 a.m. at the intersection with Van Brunt Boulevard.

KCPD said a grey Honda Civic was stopped at a red light on northbound Van Brunt Boulevard. When the light turned green, the driver drove through the intersection.

However, a speeding silver BMW 535XI ran the red light on Truman Road and struck the Honda.

Afterward, the BMW went off the left side of the road and struck a wooden utility pole and sheared it out of the ground. The intersection lost power for a short timeas a result.

The BMW also struck a pedestrian who was walking in the bicycle lane. Sadly, the pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene. 

Moreover, two people riding the BMW ran from the crash scene. 

The Honda driver was not injured in the collision.
