Man Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck near South Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard

FRESNO, CA (August 29, 2018) – A pedestrian was killed Wednesday evening following a truck collision on East Jensen Avenue. The identity of the deceased was not immediately released to the public, pending notification of family members.

According to Fresno Police officials, the incident took place at about 9:30 PM near South Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard. The victim was seen sitting in the middle of the traffic, for unknown reasons.

A driver was able to swerve his vehicle to avoid the man. He then pulled his car to the side of the road, exited, and attempted to communicate with the man to convince him to move out of the lanes. Eventually, the man was struck by an approaching semi-truck.

The victim sustained major injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. Meanwhile, the truck driver remained and cooperated with investigators.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. No additional information has been disclosed at this time.
