Man Fatally Struck by Amtrak Train near Enger Street and Rosedale Highway
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 10, 2018) – A man was killed Tuesday afternoon following a train collision near Enger Street in Northwest Bakersfield.
As per reports, the collision took place shortly before 3:00 PM near Enger Street and Rosedale Highway. The Amtrak train was traveling from Oakland to Bakersfield when it hit a man on the tracks. Authorities confirmed that the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His identity and place of residence were not immediately available to the public.
The train, occupied by 172 passengers, sat idle on the tracks for at least two hours to make way for an investigation. Authorities continue to seek information regarding why the man was on the train tracks. No additional details have been disclosed at this time.
