ENCINITAS, CA (October 31, 2019) – A pedestrian died in a train accident on Leucadia Boulevard on October 30 in Leucadia.
 
The accident involving an Amtrak train occurred before 6:50 a.m. on the tracks at Leucadia Boulevard and North Coast Highway 101, San Diego County Sheriff’s Lt. Jason Vickery revealed.
 
The detectives believe that the pedestrian got struck by the train when he tried to walk across the tracks while crossing arms were down. The identity of the pedestrian remains unreleased as of this time.
 
Meanwhile, the North County Transit officials utilized a “bus bridge” to aid passengers to get to their destinations while train service is unavailable.
 
By 8:35 a.m., the tracks between the Poinsettia and Encinitas stations have reopened. However, North County Transit officials advised commuters to expect delays due to restricted speed through Leucadia.
