1 Dead in Chico Train Accident on 1st Street
CHICO, CA (September 18, 2019) – A pedestrian died in a train accident involving a Union Pacific train on 1st Street on September 14.
The Chico Police Dispatch Center received the conductor’s report of a Union Pacific Train hitting a pedestrian at 9:40 p.m. Officers came to the scene and located the train stopped on the tracks.
Authorities shut down the railroad crossing at W. Sacramento Avenue for around five hours during the investigations.
The police are still uncertain why the pedestrian stayed on the tracks.
Meanwhile, the identity of the deceased remains unreleased due to pending family notification.
