Male Pedestrian Dies in Interstate 805 Crash in the South Bay
National City, CA (August 27, 2021) – Friday evening, a male pedestrian died in a crash on Interstate 805.
The fatal crash happened just after 11:10 p.m. on August 27.
The California Highway Patrol said they received a call that there was a person, possibly a homeless person, standing close to the lanes on the ramp from north I-805 to east SR-54.
Shortly after, the caller told dispatchers the man had been struck by a vehicle and was lying motionless in the right lane of the ramp.
CHP officers at the scene then requested that personnel from the county Medical Examiner’s Office respond to the crash site.
No further details are immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
