Man Dies in Auto-Pedestrian Crash on Interstate 8 in San Diego

San Diego, CA (September 9, 2021) – Early Thursday morning, a man died after being struck in a crash on Interstate 8. 

The fatal crash happened just after 5:10 a.m. on September 9 on I-8 just east of Interstate 5.

The California Highway Patrol said a sedan struck the pedestrian resulting in his immediate death. He was about 30 years old.

The man who had been driving the Ford stayed at the scene and cooperated with the officers. Moreover, the driver was not believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The traffic lanes were reopened about 40 minutes after the collision.

Further investigation is ongoing.
