Man in Wheelchair Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Chester Avenue in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 3, 2019) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday evening in Bakersfield, according to police.
The fatal crash happened around 7:15 p.m. in 300 block of Chester Avenue at 3rd Street.
A man in a wheelchair was crossing the intersection in an unmarked crosswalk when a vehicle hit him, police said. He suffered major injuries and died shortly at the scene.
The name, age and town of residence of the victim were not immediately available.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop and fled southbound on Chester Avenue in a white, full sized SUV.
At this time, authorities are still investigating the incident and on lookout for the suspect.
