Early Morning Pedestrian Crash on 5 Freeway in Stockton Turns Deadly
STOCKTON, CA (August 19, 2019) – A pedestrian was killed following a hit-and-run crash early Monday morning on 5 Freeway in Stockton, CHP officials said.
Just before 4:00 a.m., drivers reported seeing a body in the northbound lanes of the freeway near the Hammer Lane on-ramp.
Fire crews along with paramedics responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
The respondsible driver that struck the pedestrian did not stop.
Two lanes were closed for two hours as officers investigated the incident. All lanes have since reopened.
