Police Investigate Crash on Montgomery Boulevard in Albuquerque

Albuquerque, NM (October 16, 2024) – On Tuesday morning, a male pedestrian died in a crash on Montgomery Boulevard.

Albuquerque police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred near the intersection of Montgomery Boulevard and San Mateo Boulevard.

Authorities reported that a male pedestrian was lying in the right lane of Montgomery Boulevard when a white Lincoln sedan struck him just west of the San Mateo Boulevard intersection. 

After the collision, the driver stopped at the Lovelace parking lot.

The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver informed police that he thought he had hit debris or a cardboard box. 

Witnesses confirmed seeing the pedestrian lying in the road before the crash.

Police do not believe alcohol or excessive speed contributed to the accident. 

Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses as part of their ongoing investigation.
