Man Dies in Pedestrian Accident in Moreno Valley
MORENO VALLEY, CA (February 5, 2019) — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle at a Moreno Valley intersection at around 4 a.m. Monday.
According to sheriff’s Sgt. Gil Gonzalez, the incident occurred in the area of Fawn Avenue and Heacock Street. It was reported that the pedestrian attempted to cross in front of an oncoming vehicle, stepping onto Heacock Street as a southbound motorist was making a turn onto Fawn Avenue. The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gonzalez said that the driver of the vehicle called 911 and remained at the scene to cooperate with the deputies as they conducted a preliminary investigation.
The driver, whose name was not disclosed, was not arrested. The name of the pedestrian was also withheld pending family notification.
