Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Colton Hit-and-Run Collision
COLTON, CA (May 14, 2019) – A pedestrian died following a hit-and-run crash in Colton on Saturday, May 11.
According to California Highway Patrol logs, they received reports of the crash at 10:10 p.m.
Officials noted in the crash report that the man was walking in the traffic lanes of the westbound 10 Freeway, just west of Mt. Vernon Avenue. Then a vehicle driven by an unknown person struck the pedestrian.
After the collision, the person who struck the man drove away. The male pedestrian died at the scene.
The deceased victim had not been publicly identified as of Monday afternoon.
Officials issued a SigAlert that shut down the westbound lanes east of 9th Street. It ended around 4 a.m. Sunday.
The investigation about the crash is still ongoing. CHP asks anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Officer Michael Tovsen at the San Bernardino CHP Office at 909-383-4247.
