Pedestrian Fatally Struck While Outside Car in Victorville
VICTORVILLE, CA (July 18, 2019) — A hit-and-run collision on the 15 Freeway left a pedestrian with fatal injuries early Wednesday morning.
The authorities said the incident occurred on the west shoulder of southbound 15 Freeway. The area is north of Bear Valley Road.
CHP officers from the Victorville area responded to the crash at 3:10 a.m. After that, they found the pedestrian lying on the shoulder near a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. In addition, the vehicle sustained damage to the driver’s side.
An investigation determined that the pedestrian stood outside the car when an unknown vehicle struck him. Officers said the suspect vehicle may be a large commercial-type vehicle. In addition, it may have damage to its right side, including its right-side wheels and tires.
The victim sustained major injuries. Paramedics took him to Desert Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The San Bernardino County coroner has not released the name of the victim.
In the meantime, further investigation of the crash is underway. The CHP is asking the public to be vigilant if they see a commercial-type vehicle that could have been involved in the hit-and-run. They urge anyone with information to call CHP Victorville at 760-241-1186.
