1 Dead in Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident on Figueroa Street and 89th Street

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 20, 2021) – Sunday morning, a pedestrian died in a hit-and-run crash on Figueroa Street and 89th Street.
 
The incident happened at about 8:25 a.m. on Figueroa Street and 89th Street.
 
According to reports, a 2021 dark gray Kia k5 participated in a speed contest with at least two other vehicles.
 
As the vehicle raced south on Figueroa Street at 89th Street, the Kia driver struck a 59-year-old man crossing an unmarked crosswalk.
 
The authorities said that the Kia k5 fled the scene without stopping to aid the pedestrian.
 
Meanwhile, the drivers of the other two racing vehicles also escaped the scene.
 
Also, the identity of the man remains undisclosed due to pending family notification. Then, responders took the victim to Harbor UCLA Medical Center by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. However, he later succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
 
The authorities urged anyone with information about the incident to call Detective Keith Gonzales or Officer Carol Mitchell of the South Traffic Division at 323-421-2500.
