Female Driver Arrested in Chula Vista Deadly Crash
Chula Vista, CA (October 16, 2024) – A pedestrian was fatally injured in a DUI crash on Interstate 5 Sunday night.
It was past 9 p.m. when the fatal crash happened near Imperial Avenue.
Officers said a 23-year-old Chula Vista woman lost control of her vehicle, a 2016 Kia Soul, on the southbound side of the highway.
As a result, the vehicle veered to the right, went up an embankment, and struck an electrical box.
The vehicle also struck a pedestrian who died at the scene.
Later on, the authorities arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI.
Officers withheld the identity of the deceased pending notification of kin.
This fatal traffic crash on Interstate 5 is under further investigation.
