58-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Drunk Driver near Buena Vista Avenue
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (July 20, 2018) – A woman was killed Friday evening, following a suspected DUI collision on Palm Drive.
According to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, the incident took place shortly after 8:00 PM near Buena Vista Avenue. A 58-year-old woman was walking in the middle of the roadway when a northbound vehicle struck her.
The victim sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity and city of residence were not immediately available. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Sky Valley resident, Adrian Villalobos, stayed at the scene and cooperated with officials during their investigation.
Villalobos was later arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He is being held in lieu of $115,000 bail at Riverside County Jail in Indio. The Sky Valley man is slated to return to court on August 3 for a felony settlement conference.
