53-Year-Old Unidentified Man Fatally Struck by Bus at Vignes Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 31, 2018) – A man was killed early Thursday morning after he was struck by a Santa Clarita city bus in downtown Los Angeles. The 53-year-old man’s identity was not immediately released, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the authorities, the incident took place at about 6:45 AM at the intersection of East Cesar Chavez Avenue and North Vignes Street. The pedestrian was reportedly seen on the roadway when the Santa Clarita city bus struck him. He sustained fatal trauma injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The bus driver was unharmed from the accident and stayed at the scene to cooperate with the investigators. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time, but an investigation under The Central Traffic Division is still ongoing to determine the cause of the deadly collision.
Earlier reports stated that the victim was a 60-year-old man, but it was later corrected to 53-year-old. No additional information about this incident is available to the public at this time.
