Fatal Pedestrian Crash on 15 Freeway in San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (January 3, 2020) – A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle Friday evening in San Bernardino.
The crash happened around 9:48 p.m. on southbound 15 Freeway, just south of Glen Helen Parkway. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
According to the CHP, an unidentified pedestrian was attempting to cross lanes when they were struck by an unknown vehicle. However, the events leading up to the collision are still unclear.
Paramedics later pronounced the victim dead at the scene due to the impact of the crash. However, the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office did not release the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
All lanes were temporarily stopped before Caltrans was requested to set up a hard closure. At 11:07 p.m. traffic was eventually reported to be moving again.
The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident at this time. More information will be released once available.
