Pedestrian Hospitalized after DUI Crash on Monroe Street in Spokane
Spokane, AZ (May 25, 2022) – Early Saturday morning, a pedestrian sustained multiple injuries in a DUI crash on Monroe Street.
Subsequently, police arrested the driver, Sahrinity H.F. Pogue, resident of Spokane, on suspicion of vehicular assault and hit-and-run.
The crash happened at around 1:25 a.m. on May 7 near Boone Avenue.
Reportedly, a witness said he saw the pedestrian cross Monroe Street near Boone Avenue, and a gray sedan heading south on Monroe. The driver tried to swerve, but she hit the victim and then continued south on Monroe without stopping.
Then 15 minutes after the crash, Pogue called to report the incident, and that said she was near Jefferson Street and Nora Avenue, about one-half mile north of the crash.
Officers later located Pogue alone with a blue 2006 Subaru Impreza. She told police the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and that she heard the body hit her windshield.
The officer conducted field sobriety tests and determined Pogue to be intoxicated.
The victim suffered a broken leg, broken arm, broken pelvis, and several lacerations.
Pogue was not listed in the Spokane County Jail Wednesday. She is scheduled for trial on Aug. 8 in front of Superior Court Judge Tony Hazel.
