Herbert McCloud Arrested after Hit-and-Run Collision on Medway Road
CANAL, CA (August 7, 2019) – Authorities arrested 67-year-old Herbert McCloud of San Rafael after a hit-and-run crash on Medway Road, Wednesday afternoon.
According to the San Rafael Police Department, the incident happened near Belvedere Street, at about 3:00 PM. A 47-year-old man attempted to cross in a marked crosswalk when a black Ford F-150 hit him. The pedestrian fell, knocking over his companion.
Emergency responders treated the pedestrian and his companion at the scene with minor injuries. Meanwhile, McCloud did not stop to render aid and immediately fled the area.
A witness saw the driver in a black Ford F-150 and reported the vehicle’s license plate number to the police. Then, investigators tracked McCloud and arrested him at his home in the Canal neighborhood. They booked him into Marin County Jail on suspicion of hit-and-run causing injury and driving without a license. His bail is set at $50,000.
San Rafael police continue to investigate the crash. Authorities will release additional information following the conclusion of the investigation.
