Daniel Murillo Velasquez Arrested after Pedestrian Collision near Interstate 5
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 5, 2018) – A woman was hospitalized Wednesday evening following a hit-and-run crash on 1st Avenue. Her name and place of residence were not released by officials.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place shortly after 8:45 PM, in the Bankers Hill neighborhood. The victim was walking near the on-ramp onto the northbound Interstate 5 when she was struck by a Lexus IS200.
The woman sustained unspecified injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle did not stop and continued to drive away from the scene, leaving the injured victim in the road.
Witnesses were able to provide a license plate number that matched the suspect vehicle. At about 11:20 PM, the authorities located the driver, identified as 74-year-old Daniel Murillo Velasquez of Carlsbad. He was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and hit-and-run.
Additional information was not immediately disclosed to the public, as an investigation is ongoing at this time.
