Pedestrian Injured, Matthew Christian Wilkie Arrested in Accident on Vulcan Avenue
Encinitas, CA (February 18, 2021) – On Tuesday, a pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Vulcan Avenue. Shortly after, authorities arrested the suspect, Matthew Wilkie.
The incident happened at about 10:45 a.m. near Moonlight Beach.
The victim was struck by a black Ford Fusion that swerved off the roadway of West D Street and plowed into a transit station.
Right away, medics rushed the pedestrian to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Immediately, the suspect driver, of Solano Beach, also struck a tree and lost a wheel in the crash/ He then jumped out and ran off.
Minutes later, a sheriff’s sergeant who was in the area stopped the fleeing suspect and arrested him.
