Police Seek the Hit-And-Run Driver after Crash on Rancho Santa Fe Road in San Marcos

San Marcos, CA (January 6, 2022) – Wednesday morning, an 86-year-old pedestrian sustained severe injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Rancho Santa Fe Road at Rue De Valle.

The hit-and-run crash in San Marcos happened at around  7 a.m. on January 5,  just south of Bradley Park.

San Diego County Sheriff’s said the victim was walking across Rancho Santa Fe Road at Rue De Valle when the pickup sideswiped him. However, the driver did not stop and fled the scene.

EMS then immediately took him to a hospital sustaining a serious head injury.

Authorities described the truck as a black 2010 to 2013 Chevrolet 1500 with an extended cab. It sustained damage to its passenger-side mirror, part of which broke off when the truck hit the victim.

Police are now seeking help from the public to identify the driver of the truck, and offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
