55-year-old man Hospitalized after Auto Crash on West Clearwater Avenue
Kennewick, WA (May 7, 2020)– On Wednesday night, a 55-year-old pedestrian suffers a broken leg after an auto crash on West Clearwater Avenue.
Kennewick officers responded to the intersection of West Clearwater Avenue and North Morain Street upon receiving crash reports.
Reportedly, the pedestrian stepped into the roadway while the traffic was moving. He was hit by a vehicle and sustained a broken leg. EMS transported him to an area hospital for immediate aide.
Officers closed the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, it has since reopened to the traffic. Moreover, the identities of both parties involved remained undisclosed.
Pedestrian accidents are avoidable if people are aware and alert enough to follow simple safety measures. When jogging, running, or walking, one should remain beside the street or on the shoulder of the road. Furthermore, wait for the “walk” signal before crossing the intersections. Above all, avoid the use of smartphones and other electronic devices while walking.
