Man Injured in Escondido Pedestrian Crash
ESCONDIDO, CA (February 19, 2019) – A man was badly hurt after a car struck him while he stopped to tie his shoe on a Friday, February 15.
According to Escondido Police Lt. Mike Kearney, at about 5:30 p.m. police and firefighters responded to the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Quince Street about a report of a pedestrian crash. They discovered a 59-year-old man injured at the scene.
The man’s injuries were serious but non-life-threatening.
Witnesses told the authorities that the man was walking north on Quince Street and had stopped to tie his shoe in an alley, Kearney stated. Meanwhile, a 29-year-old man was driving a 2006 Nissan Armada west in the alley, and crashed into the pedestrian as he pulled onto Quince Street.
Detectives are still investigating the crash.
