Keeping Yourself Safe From Accidents
As everyone’s version of normal adjusts to the effects of recent events. And as roadways continue to clear and walking outside has increased in commonality, pedestrian accident statistics are soaring. Additionally, traffic safety organizations predict an escalation in pedestrian injuries.>
In reality, you can avoid getting into an accident by avoiding dangerous habits. Moreover, make sure to always walk on the sidewalk (no jaywalking) and make eye contact with drivers. More importantly, never assume the driver can see you.
If you’re a driver, know that pedestrians have the right of way at any crosswalk or intersection. You must yield and be prepared to stop.
“Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents, but the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
