70-year-old Pedestrian Dies after Hit by Truck in Santa Barbara
SANTA BARBARA, CA (March 06, 2019) – A Santa Barbara resident was killed after being struck by a truck at Casa Dorinda Life Care Community.
The 70-year-old victim was hit in the 300 block of Hot Springs Road at around 10:25 a.m. on Saturday.
It was reported that the 53-year-old driver of a Hino box truck was backing up as the pedestrian was walking in the roadway behind the truck.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, the identity of the victim has not been released. The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s office will announce the name after the victim’s next of kin have been notified.
The scene of the accident was not completely cleared until around 1:13 p.m. No public roadways were affected because the accident happened on private property. The investigation is ongoing.
