Female Pedestrian Killed in Redlands Car Accident
REDLANDS, CA (January 26, 2019) – A man was fatally struck and killed in a pedestrian accident Saturday evening on the 10 Freeway. The identity of the victim has yet to be released to the public.
According to the California Highway Patrol the crash occurred around 6:43 PM on the 10 Freeway near Orange Street. Upon the arrival of first responders, they identified a black male who was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were several vehicles stopped nearby. Initial reports stated that the victim was walking in the lanes when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle which caused vehicles to swerve and avoid the crash.
It is unknown as to why the man was walking on the freeway but witnesses saw him jump a fence on the south side of the freeway toward the center divider. All lanes were closed due to the accident.
There has been no further information released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident as investigations continue.
