Late Evening Pedestrian and Train Crash on 10 Freeway in Alhambra
ALHAMBRA, CA (July 31, 2019) – A pedestrian was struck by a train late Wednesday evening on 10 Freeway in Alhambra.
The incident was reported at 10:40 p.m., along the eastbound lanes of 10 Freeway near Almansor Street.
The train reportedly hit the pedestrian who possibly jumped from the Almansor Street overpass onto the Metrolink railroad tracks.
Furthermore, the identity and condition of the victim were not immediately available.
CHP officials closed all freeway lanes until a flare pattern was set up. In addition, Metrolink also sent an alert via social media about a train stoppage between Cal State University Los Angeles and El Monte. However, the area has since reopened.
Alhambra Police is currently handling the investigation. However, we will continue to update this post as new details are released.
Always stay off the tracks and away from railroad property for your own safety. Tracks, bridges and rail yards are private property, and people should not walk on the tracks, with the exception of marked rail crossings. Also, be sure to not be distracted by your mobile phone or another person while crossing busy traffic areas.
