Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Highway 99 in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA (January 30, 2020) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a big rig Thursday evening in Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol
The crash happened around 7:10 p.m. on Highway 99 at 48th Avenue.
CHP officials did not provide details of how the crash occurred, but the pedestrian died at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available pending notification of next of kin.
An initial log indicated that a fuel truck and a silver sedan pulled over on the right shoulder.
Officials closed the third and fourth lanes as crews cleared the crash site. All lanes were re-opened around 9:10 p.m.
