Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision Occurs near Thunderbird Road
PHOENIX, AZ (November 18, 2019) – George Casner and his dog were killed in a pedestrian accident on 26th Avenue on Monday morning.
According to the police, the crash happened near the intersection of Thunderbird Road at approximately 6:00 AM.
Reports showed that the 77-year-old man crossed the street with his dog in a marked crosswalk. The light changed before they reached the other side and they were hit by a Dodge Challenger.
The dog died at the scene. Paramedics transported Casner to a hospital, where he died shortly after.
The 26-year-old driver of the Challenger stayed at the scene as required by law. However, investigators do not believe impairment is a factor.
Thunderbird Road closed from 24th Drive to Interstate 17 during the initial investigation.
