Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Interstate 805 [Sorrento Valley, CA]

24-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash near Sorrento Valley Road Exit

SORRENTO VALLEY, CA (August 10, 2018) – A man lost his life early Friday morning after he was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 805.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at around 3:30 AM near the Sorrento Valley Road exit. A 20-year-old woman was driving a Jeep Cherokee with her 24-year-old boyfriends as her passenger. When things got “emotional” between the couple, the boyfriend asked the driver to pull the vehicle over.

The man got out of the Jeep and walked onto the freeway lanes, where he was struck by a northbound Lexus. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. His identity and city of residence were not immediately released by officials. Meanwhile, the driver of the Lexus remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time, as the investigation continues.
