Man Dead after Bakersfield Pedestrian Crash on Highway 58
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 29, 2019) – A pedestrian died following a car accident in Northwest Bakersfield on Thursday, April 25.
Dispatchers received calls about the accident just after 9 p.m. First responders arrived to the area on Highway 58 soon after.
An unidentified woman driving a pickup truck allegedly struck a male pedestrian on the highway.
Authorities shut down the westbound lanes of the highway between Calloway Drive and Verdugo Lane for several hours during the investigation.
Alcohol and speed are not considered to be factors in the incident, according to BPD. Police said that the man was walking outside the crosswalk when the crash occurred.
The identity of the pedestrian will be released by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
