31-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Car near Avondale Avenue, Rafael Murillo Herrera Involved
LINDA, CA (September 7, 2018) – A pedestrian died early Friday morning after a crash on North Beale Road. The name and place of residence of the 31-year-old victim were not immediately disclosed to the public.
According to the Yuba Sutter California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 2:45 AM near Avondale Avenue.
The pedestrian was sitting in the slow lane of the intersection when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle, driven by 44-year-old Rafael Murillo Herrera of Olivehurst. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding paramedics. Herrera pulled over to the right shoulder and made contact with two witnesses who had stopped in the street on N Beale. He said that he had earlier believed the victim to be trash bags.
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol are a factor in the collision. Further investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause of the incident and to identify possible contributing factors. No additional information has been released at this time.
