Salinas Man Struck and Injured by Hit-and-Run Driver near Tyler Street
SALINAS, CA (August 18, 2018) – A man was hospitalized Saturday evening following a hit-and-run crash on West Laurel Drive. His identity and place of residence were not immediately released to the public.
As per reports, the incident took place at about 8:42 PM. A Salinas man was in a crosswalk near Tyler Street when he was struck by a westbound vehicle.
The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid to the injured man and continued driving westbound.
At approximately 11:35 PM, the driver and a black SUV were found in Gilroy. The suspect, who was a regular transient in Salinas, was later transported to the Monterey County Jail where he will be facing felony hit-and-run charges.
No additional information has been disclosed at this time, as the investigation is ongoing at this time.
