Tragic Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 44 Claims a Life [Franklin County, MO]

Franklin County, MO (November 26, 2024) On Monday afternoon, a 60-year-old man was killed after a horrific pedestrian accident on Interstate 44.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the deadly crash happened around 1:30 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 44.

Reports say that a tractor-trailer fatally struck a 60-year-old man on eastbound I-44 in Franklin County while he changed a tire.

Authorities say that a semitruck veered off the right side of I-44 near mile marker 225 in Sullivan. The truck’s right front end hit the pedestrian and collided with both a pickup truck and an SUV parked on the interstate shoulder.

The driver of the maroon tractor-trailer, marked with the word “EGO” in a blue-and-black outline and showing damage to its front passenger-side cab, fled the scene.

Emergency responders pronounced the 60-year-old man from Arcadia dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his name.

MSHP urges anyone with information about the vehicle or its driver to contact them at 636-300-2800.
