28-Year-Old San Diego Man Killed in Collision near Interstate 805
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 9, 2018) – A motorcyclist was fatally injured in an accident on Interstate 8, early Saturday morning. He was later identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as 28-year-old Payam Baghal of San Diego.
The motorcycle collision took place on the westbound I-8 near the Interstate 805 entrance, just before 3:00 AM. According to the California Highway Patrol, Baghal was traveling west on the Mission Valley Freeway and lost control as he was approaching the Jacob Dekema Freeway.
As he went down freeway lanes, another vehicle struck him.
He sustained multiple blunt force injuries, and was pronounced dead on the scene by first emergency responders. No other injuries were reported in the collision. Witnesses stated that the man was trapped under a Ford Mustang, but it is unclear whether or not that is the vehicle involved in the incident.
No additional information has been released to the public at this time, as authorities continue to investigate the fatal collision and try to determine the cause.
