Two People Killed in a Crash after Fleeing Police Authorities near Valley Center
PAUMA VALLEY, CA (March 18, 2018) – A police chase in North County turned deadly when passengers of a stolen car crashed into another vehicle, early Sunday morning.
Deputies spotted a Honda Accord that was reported stolen from Escondido just a few days ago as it was leaving Harrah’s Rincon Casino’s parking lot, around 1 AM. The driver of the stolen car sped through Valley View Road, trying to flee from the sheriff’s deputies.
Officials were about to terminate the chase due to dangerous weather conditions, when the car crashed into an oncoming white vehicle in the opposite lane.
The 22-year-old driver of the Accord and one other person were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger was found trapped in the backseat as a result of the impact. He was sent to the hospital for leg injuries he sustained.
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old driver of the white vehicle injured her arm and had it treated at a nearby hospital. She was on her way to the casino for her work-shift.
Several bottles of beer were found inside the stolen car, which gives a new light on the case. No additional information is available at the moment.
We offer our sympathies to the victims’ family and friends during this difficult time. May they rest in peace.
