78-Year-Old Woman Fatally Injured in Two-Car Crash on 110th Street West
LANCASTER, CA (April 18, 2018) – A two-vehicle collision in a Lancaster intersection took the life of an elderly woman, on Wednesday morning. The victim was later identified as 78-year-old Paula Sonya Sherry, a resident of Neenach, as confirmed by the coroner’s assistant.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:55 AM on Avenue D/ SR-138, just east of 110th Street West.
A 2005 Lexus, driven by Sherry, was headed eastbound on Avenue D, while a 2014 Chevrolet, driven by 20-year-old Rosamond resident Kaelin Miller, was in the opposite lane traveling west.
Miller made an unsafe turn onto 110th St, causing a collision between two vehicles upon entering the intersection. The impact of the crash critically injured Sherry and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Miller suffered major injuries and was rushed to the Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment. There is no update on her current condition.
Officials are still investigating the deadly crash, but they do not suspect drugs or alcohol to be contributing factors. No additional information is available at this time.
